Posters For Japan - 100 Ting til Ettertanke
I contributed to Posters For Japan, a charity exhibition arranged by some japanese citizens living in Oslo to help their country after the disasters. All the profit from posters sales will be donated to Japan. The exhibition was on 20/21 May 2011 at DogA. (norsk Design og Arkitektursenter i Oslo) More than 100 artists made a poster, with some great artists such as: Jeremyville, Martin Yang & Fredrik Melby, Håvard Gjelseth, Diogo Valério, Olivier Marcouiller... just to name a few.
Rebuild has different meanings to me. First the simplest way is: Japan after the disaster. Rebuilding. Japan is strong enough to rebuild, better than any other country in such circumstances. Japanese people are tough, strong enough to go forward, face this difficult period... I know they'll succeed. They are courageous & devoted people. But even if the japanese people are strong... I know they'll keep their flesh forever marked by this tragic event of March 11th, 2011. This violent earthquake that made the disasters that we know. This is the 2nd meaning, a personal reconstruction. they are tattooed in their mind, tattooed forever. But with a positive message also, looking to the future, keeping the faith. And there is a 3rd meaning... Just before to finish my illustration, my computer crashed down, and my HDD burnt... No back up of this work... I remade it from scratch thanks to a buddy who lent me his computer. To be just in time...
Special thanks to Corentin Perrichot (for his computer) and Asaki Abumi (model) 5ive
